Before sending a drone out for an inspection, insurance underwriters & adjusters often have to go to various websites to gather weather data, building information, building & property images, etc. This data plays a key role in helping underwriters to screen risk and adjusters to investigate claims.
Unfortunately, collecting this information can also be a cumbersome and time-consuming process, which is why Betterview integrated these data sources into its platform. By simply typing in an address, users can now get this vital information automatically pre-filled before every drone inspection.
In addition, to returning current weather conditions, building imagery, etc., Betterview just announced a strategic partnership with Understory Weather (full press release) to add its historical hail, high wind and heavy precipitation data into our platform.
By aggregating various data sources before drone flights, then using artificial intelligence and human experts to analyze imagery captured post-flight, Betterview is now providing insurers with a better risk profile of buildings & properties.
A great example of the combination of Betterview’s pre-flight & post-flight analysis was made by Alex Kubicek, CEO, Understory who said:
“Our data is the perfect compliment to the roof and property insights Betterview generates. For example, an underwriter may be renewing a commercial policy with a roof that is four years old. When the address is entered into Betterview’s platform, the underwriter may see there were significant hail and wind events over the last two years. While the roof may be relatively new, the underwriter may want to dig deeper due to these events, and use a drone to make sure the roof was properly installed or alert the policyholder of any other potential issues.”
Betterview’s computer vision is based on a proprietary database of over 1 million analyzed and tagged images of buildings and properties. With every inspection Betterview performs, our computer vision gets better and better at identifying potential roof related claims, such as hail damage, wind damage, loose wires, water ponding, debris, and more (87 issue types identified).
In addition, to spotting roof & building issues, Betterview’s artificial intelligence can also uncover hidden liability exposures on properties, including swimming pools, fire pits, trampolines, and more.
Over the next few months we will be announcing more updates to our platform so stay tuned! For more information on Betterview’s partnership with Understory or to schedule a 30-minute demonstration of our platform, please contact John Cherbini via email.
